About Me

Hi, I’m Stephen!

I work with people who are looking for someone to help guide them on their journey to something different. Raised in Louisiana, I moved to Texas after serving active duty in the United States Marine Corps. Once in Texas, I embarked on a rewarding journey towards healing and recovery. Today, I have a strong desire to help those who are struggling and unaware of what may be driving their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I value aiding clients in the development of their sense of self-worth in a therapeutic space where you can truly feel safe enough to be curious about yourself in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. I believe that there is hope, that you have the capacity to heal, and that authenticity in life is something worth fighting for.

I tend to be relaxed in sessions and approach therapy as a partnership. However, I am straightforward and direct but seek to always treat you with respect and compassion. I am especially passionate about helping individuals heal from trauma & complex trauma, addiction, and improve relationships. As a Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I have undergone a variety of trauma-focused trainings and certifications. Additionally, I am a certified Safe & Sound Protocol provider and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As a dually licensed therapist, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor who is uniquely qualified to treat various types of compulsive behaviors and co-occurring issues. I am also an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist (IITAP) and an International Certified Gambling Counselor - Level I (IPGGC).

My devotion to helping people started when I began leading a confidential small group focused on life-controlling issues at my local church. Soon thereafter, I wanted to know more about how best to help people, so I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Religion and Christian Counseling from Liberty University, followed by a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Amberton University.

With a history in private practice, my treatment modalities are trauma-informed and stem from a psychodynamic approach, and include: attachment theory, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP), and EMDR. I see individuals, couples, and facilitate process groups.

I am married to a super-terrific wife of 16 years, I have three wonderful children, and a dog named Bear. I have been accused of being a coffee snob and love making pour-overs from a good single-origin coffee, tinkering on my son’s dirt bike, reading to my children, and running.
