Porn & Sex Addiction Counseling in Dallas, TX
You've probably tried to stop on your own more times than you can count resulting in a never-ending cycle of shame. Confidential, specialized porn & sex addiction help, in person in Dallas or by Telehealth across Texas.
Pornography & Sex Addiction
If you're searching for porn addiction help, you've likely already fought this privately for a long time. Deleting everything. Promising yourself this was the last time. Watching the promise break again.
That cycle isn't a character flaw, and it isn't a lack of willpower. Compulsive sexual behavior is something I assess and treat every week as an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist. Establishing recovery is possible with the right treatment.
Reaching out takes courage. There is hope so that you do not have to carry this alone for another year.
Is it time to get help?
Ask yourself a few honest questions.
Do you spend more time viewing pornography than you intend to, or find it pulling focus from work, sleep, or the people you love?
Have you tried to cut back or quit, and not been able to make it stick?
Have you kept using despite negative consequences: a strained relationship, a discovery you dreaded, a version of yourself you don't recognize?
Do you feel a wave of shame afterward, then find yourself back again anyway?
If you answered yes to any of these, an assessment is a sensible next step. It isn't a verdict or a label. It's a clear-eyed look at what's happening, so we know what we're working with.
TheSexual Addiction Screening Test (SAST) is a free, anonymous screening tool I often point people to as a starting point.
What porn and sex addiction actually is
The World Health Organization's ICD-11 recognizes Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD): persistent, unsuccessful attempts to control intense sexual urges, leading to repeated behavior over six months or longer. Its markers include preoccupation that interferes with daily life, repeated failed attempts to stop, and continuing despite negative consequences.
In other words, what you're experiencing has a clinical name, established diagnostic criteria, and established treatment. You are not uniquely broken. You're dealing with a recognized condition that thousands of people recover from.
How counseling helps
I'm Stephen Kleine, an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist (ASAT) and Licensed Professional Counselor here in Dallas. My work with pornography and sex addiction follows the task model developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, the most established treatment framework in this field.
Here's what working together looks like:
A comprehensive assessment. We look at your history, triggers, stressors, family-of-origin influences, and any trauma underneath the behavior. Some form of trauma typically underlies addiction, and as a trauma-trained counselor I treat the cause, not just the symptom.
A personalized treatment plan. For many people this includes a sexual sobriety plan, which supports an initial period of abstinence and brings something most clients haven't felt in years: relief from secrecy.
Ongoing 1:1 counseling, with group therapy strongly recommended alongside it for accountability, support, and connection with others doing the same work.
Specialist training for this specific problem
Most counselors have no specific training in sex addiction. This is my specialty.
Associate Sex Addiction Therapist (ASAT), trained through IITAP, the institute founded by Dr. Patrick Carnes
Licensed Professional Counselor, #91354
Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, #16476
Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (Level 2), EMDR trained, ART trained.
LegitScript certified practice
You're not explaining this to a generalist and hoping they understand. You're working with someone who treats it every week.
For partners and spouses
Maybe you're not here for yourself. Maybe you found something on their phone, or they finally told you, and the ground hasn't felt steady since.
What you're feeling has a name too: Betrayal Trauma. It is real trauma, and it deserves real support, separate from whether your partner gets help.
I work with partners and couples through this. Whether you come in together or you come in alone, there is a path through it.
About Stephen
I'm a Dallas-based counselor specializing in addiction and the trauma that so often sits underneath it. People who work with me tend to say the same two things: I listen intently, and I don't judge. After years in this work, very little surprises me, and nothing you say will change the care you receive.
Common questions
-
Completely. I'm a licensed counselor bound by confidentiality law and HIPAA. What you share in session stays in session. Many clients tell no one they're coming, and that's okay.
-
Yes. I see clients in person at my Dallas office and by secure telehealth anywhere in Texas. Many clients prefer telehealth for exactly the privacy reasons you'd expect.
-
We talk. You tell me what's been happening, at whatever pace feels manageable, and I'll likely ask some assessment questions. You'll leave with a clearer picture of what's going on and what treatment would look like.
-
Sessions are private pay, which also means nothing about your treatment goes through an insurance company. Current fees are $300 per 50-minute session. A superbill can be provided upon request.
There is hope.
You've carried this alone long enough. One confidential conversation is how it starts to change.
Let's create change together.
